Chapter I: Welcome     “Four boxes of clothes. Seven boxes of knick-knacks. Two boxes of documents, photo albums, and vinyl records . . . Hmm. I’m missing one.”    My eyes scanned the freshly organized attic. The dust had been banished, the cobwebs destroyed, and all creatures kicked out. All that remained were the boxes containing my late grandmother’s belongings. At least, what she wanted me to keep.     It taunts me. Digs its nails into the deepest, darkest part of my soul, and tears it out so that the tainted pieces may bathe in the light of reality. Like Judas betraying Christ, it causes my own mind to go against and destroy itself.    I am reaching the end of my wits. My sanity slips through my fingers like dry sand, crumbling into a pile of dust that will easily be blown away with the wind.    As time ticks by, I feel myself slowly wasting away. Christmas, the time of the year in which we get what we want. Typically, we get things based off of a list we give our friends and/or family. But, we never really put what we really want, at least I don't. Why? Because the things I actually want are usually unattainable. So, since I can't give this list to anyone, I thought it'd be a cool idea to just put it up on DA (although it is a bit feely, so sorry in advance). My (Somewhat Impossible) Christmas Wishlist: 1. A way out of my depression and anxiety 2. A family that isn't pointing daggers at each other's throats 3. An open-minded family 4. A more charismatic personality 5. A wallet
